The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) of India conducts various examinations. The Combined Defence Services Examination (CDS) is also conducted by UPSC twice a year. The CDS examination is conducted for the recruitment into the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Officers Training Academy (OTA), Indian Naval Academy and Indian Air Force Academy. Those aspirants who want to make their career in defense and want to serve the Nation can apply for this examination. The notification of CDS exam is released twice in a year by UPSC in the months of October and June. The UPSC CDS examination is conducted in the months of February and November respectively. After clearing the examination candidates are called for an interview/Intelligence and Personality Test conducted by Service Selection Commission (SSB).
UPSE CDS 2016 Application/Notification
The Application for CDS examination 2016 will be released soon. Usually it is released in the month of June and October by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The application forms are filled online from the UPSC website. We will notify you when its official notification will be released by UPSC in our website.
Eligibility Criteria for UPSC CDS 2016
The eligibility criteria of CDS exam includes the education qualification and age limit required for applying in CDS 2016 exam.
- For Indian Military Academy (IMA) and Officers Training Academy (OTA) – Candidates have completed graduation from a recognized university.
- For Indian Naval Academy – Candidates must have degree in engineering from a recognized university.
- For Indian Air Force Academy – Candidates have completed graduation (with physics and mathematics at 10+2) or have Engineering degree from a recognized board and university.
- Those aspirants who are appearing in the last year of their graduation are also eligible.
For Indian Military Academy: Candidates must be born not earlier than 02-01-1993 and not later than 01-01-1998 (only unmarried male candidates).
For Indian Naval Academy: Born not earlier than 02-01-1993 and not later than 01-01-1998 (only unmarried male candidates).
For Air Force Academy – Born not earlier than 02-01-1993 and not later than 01-01-1998 (only unmarried male candidates).
For Officers Training Academy (for men): Born not earlier than02-01-1992 and not later than 01-01-1998 (male candidates married or unmarried)
For Officers Training Academy (OTA) SSC course (for women): Born not earlier than 02-01-1992 and not later than 01-01-1998
Exam Pattern for UPSC CDS 2016
The UPSC CDS examination is written exam comprises of objective type questions (Multiple Choice Questions). The question paper consists of questions from the subjects like English, General Knowledge and Elementary Mathematics. Each subject is of 100 marks. Time duration for paper is 2 hours.

The question paper will be bilingual in both Hindi and English. The candidates who will successfully clear the written examination will be called for Interview /Intelligence and Personality test which is conducted by the Service Selection Board (SSB).
How to Apply for UPSC CDS 2016
Interested candidates can apply online for the SSC CDS 2016 before the last date of online application from the official site. We will notify you about the application form when the official application of UPSC CDS will be released by Union Public Service Commission.
- Go to the official website and fill the application form with all the necessary details regarding date of birth, age, etc.
- After filling the application form with all the required details upload your recent photograph and signature.
- Next step is payment of fees. You can submit fees by bank challan or by using credit/debit card.
- Take the printout of the submitted application and retain it for future use.
Candidates have to pay Rs. 200 as the application fee for CDS. Female candidates and candidates belonging to SC/ST category have no need to pay the application fees.
CDS Admit Card
Candidates who have applied for the UPSC CDS 2016 Examination can download the admit card from the official site when it will be declared. We will notify you when it will be available. Keep on checking our portal.
Union Public Service Commission will make a list of those candidates who have cleared the written examination of UPSC CDS 2016 and their result will be declared on the official site.
