The Engineering aspirants who wish to make their career in the Indian Engineering service (Group A Gazetted Engineering Jobs) have to under the Indian Engineering Service examination (ESE). The ESE 2016 is conducted every year by the UPSC for recruitment to various engineering services/posts. Every year there are more than 450 vacancies that are filled through ESE exam.

IES 2016 Notification
The Indian Engineering Service examination notification will be released by the UPSC from 27th February, 2016. The engineering graduates can apply for the exam for various vacancies that are divided in to different categories as per the branch of the candidates. Candidates can check all the details and important instructions regarding IES 2016 in the official notification which will be released on 27 February 2016.
IES 2016 Application Form
The candidates can fill the Indian Engineering Service examination application form through the online mode by visiting the official website of UPSC. The ESE 2016 application form will be available from 27th February 2016. The last date of ESE 2016 form filling is 25th March 2016.
ESE Eligibility Criteria
The candidates appearing in the IES 2016 must check the eligibility criteria, the eligibility details are listed below:
A candidate must be either of the following eligibility condition:
1) a citizen of India, or
2) a subject of Nepal, or
3) a subject of Bhutan, or
4) a Tibetan refugee who came to India before the 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
(5) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, SriLanka or East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or from Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
Note: The candidates must posses a certificate as proof of eligibility for 2,3,4, and 5. The certificate must be recognized by the government of India.
The candidate appearing in the IES 2016 exam must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the upper age of 30 years as on 1 January 2016.
For candidates belonging to the reserved category/PWD/or Ex-servicemen/government servants their will reservation as prescribed by the central government rules and regulations.
The candidates must posses the minimum educational qualification for applying to Indian Engineering Service examination. The candidates should meet any of the below eligibility requirements.
The candidates must hold an Engineering degree from a recognized college or university. Or
The candidates passed Sections A and B of the Institution Examinations of the Institution of Engineers (India). Or
Engineering degree/diploma from any foreign university that is recognized by the government of India.
How to Apply
The eligible candidates can apply only through online mode by visiting the UPSC website. Candidates can check all the instructions regarding IES 2016 application form filling from the official notification. The application will start from 27th February 2016. The last date of the submission of the application form is 10th April, 2016 till 11:59PM. The candidates applying for the exam has to pay the application fees of Rs.200 for General and OBC candidates, whereas the SC/ST/Female/PH are remitted from fees payment.
Admit Card/E-admission certificate
The e-admit card/e-admission certificate of the ESE 2016 will be declared two weeks before the examination in the UPSC website. Candidates can download their e-admit card by visiting the by login in the UPSC website using reference no. and password/date of birth.
The candidates can check the latest syllabus of Indian Engineering Service examination from the official notification that will be released very soon.
The Indian Engineering Service examination ESE 2016 result will be declared by the UPSC few months after the examination, the successful candidates will be called for interview process which is the 2nd stage of the recruitment. After the Interview the final merit list will be prepared for recruiting the candidates.
