GATE 2016- Application Form, Exam Dates and Eligibility Criteria

gate examGATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) 2016 will be declared in the Month of September 2015. GATE is a national level entrance exam conducting by the Joint Committee of IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) and IISc (Indian Institute of Science). GATE 2016 will be conducted by the IIT Kharagpur. GATE score card will be considered in the admission to PG courses in engineering, architecture and doctorate degree offered by IITs and IISc. GATE score is also considered for the admission to institutions located in abroad. It is also considered by various private and public sector for screening candidates. The successful candidates will be provided financial assistance for their courses by MHRD, Government of India.

GATE 2016 Eligibility Norms

To appear the GATE examination, eligibility norms are as the following:

  1. Candidates having UG degree in engineering, architecture, technology, pharmacy or 4years science can apply to GATE 2016.
  2. Candidates having PG degree in Science/Mathematics/Statistics/Computer or having research field can apply for GATE 2016.
  3. Candidates having integrated M.E/M.Tech after B.Sc or integrated M.Sc or five year integrated B.S. – M.S program can also apply for GATE 2016.
  4. Candidates appearing to the final year of qualifying examination may also eligible to apply for GATE 2016 but they will have to submit the certificate given by principle of their college or university.

GATE 2016 Online Application Process

GATE 2016 application form will be available on 1st September 2015 through the online interface known as GOAPS (GATE Online Application Processing System). The GOAPS will be accessed via online through official website of all conducting IITs and IISc. The candidates will have to register themselves by entering their valid mail ID and phone number. After successful completion of registration process over GOAPS, an enrollment ID will be sent to each registered candidate to their mail ID. The candidates must be secured the enrollment ID and GOAPS password for further communication and references.

Candidates should be apply online and enter all required details in online application form. The candidates will have to upload their photo, signature, category certificate and other particulars required. The application fee would be remitted through the net banking, credit/debit card, e-challan. After successful of payment, candidate will be redirected to the confirmation page. Candidate may take the printout of confirmation page for future references.

GATE 2016 Exam Pattern

GATE 2016 will be a Computer Based Test (CBT). The examination will be of 22 papers out of which candidates have to attempt any one as per their subject in qualifying exam. The paper will comprise in 65 questions carrying 100 marks out of which 55 questions will be come from core subject carrying 85 marks and 10 questions will be from general aptitude carrying 15 marks.

GATE 2016 Admit Card

Candidates would download their admit card through GOAPS interface by using their ID and password from the second week of December 2015. The information about examination schedule, date and venue of examination and other personal details will be mentioned in admit card. The admit card will be mandatory document to access the examination hall along with the valid ID proof.

GATE 2016 Result & Score Card

GATE 2016 results will be announced by the zonal websites of GATE examination. Result will be declared in the second week of March 2016. Successful candidates would get their score card through the same channel after few days of result declaration.
