CAT 2017: Notification, Registration, Exam Dates & Pattern

CAT 2017CAT 2017 (known as CAT 2018) is a national level entrance exam for providing admission in MBA or PG management courses offered by various reputed management institutions like IIMs and others. CAT 2017 notification will be released in July 2017 while its application form filling will be started in August 2017. For admission to academic session 2018-19, CAT 2017 will be organized. CAT 2017 entrance exam is organized by IIMs on rotational basis once in a year. Read below details about CAT 2017 registration, application form, exam dates, exam pattern and admission process.

You can fill CAT 2017 registration in the month of August 2017 followed by the releasing of CAT 2017 notification in July 2017. You can register yourself through the official site of organizing institution via online mode. No offline mode will be entertained in this concern. You would have to register yourself by entering your personal, academic and other details followed by scanned copies of images an pay the application fee via online. Secure the USER ID and password after registration.


You can pay the application fee via online only through the credit/debit card/net banking only. The application fee for General & NC-OBC candidates will be Rs. 1700/- and for others is Rs. 650/- only.

You must check the eligibility criteria before applying as mentioned below:

  • You must be an Indian citizen.
  • There is no age limit to appear this exam.
  • You must have passed or pursuing graduation or having degree of CA/CS/ICWA.
  • Graduation in any stream is allowed.
  • You must have or would have scored min. 50% marks (general) or 45% marks (SC/ST/OBC).


CAT 2017 exam will be consisted of following pattern:

  • The exam will be of computer based test (CBT).
  • It will be consisted of 1 paper only.
  • CAT 2017 paper will comprise in 100 multiple choice questions.
  • The duration of question paper will be of 180 minutes.
  • The paper will be sectioned in 3 modules.
  • Each module will carry 60 minutes.
  • For each correct response, 3 marks will be awarded.
  • For each incorrect response, 1 mark will be deducted.

CAT Admit card 2017 will be released on October 2017. Admit card will be released via online mode only. You can download your admit card by login with USER ID & Password. Admit card will contain your personal identity, centre, date & time of exam.


CAT Result 2017 will be declared on January 2018. Result will be declared via online mode only. You can get your result by login with USER ID & Password. Result will contain your score and rank.


CAT 2017 admission process will be started separately by various institutions. Each offering institution or IIM will conduct its own admission procedure. Admission in IIMs will be done on their cut-off (announce later). IIMs will organize various rounds like Personal Interview (PI), Group Discussion (GD) and Written Ability Test (WAT).
